Performance VS Longevity VS Weight Loss

For the first 5 years of our existence, we had one primary offering – CrossFit – and we tried to make it so that it could accomplish all three of these objectives. And for the most part, it did pretty well! But if you read our previous blog, you know that we’ve been working on expanding our programs so that we can definitively target a specific objective. Instead of offering one program and trying to accomplish various objectives, going forward we are going to offer programs that are specific to a particular objective. Why? Because it is going to speed up results and it is going to feel like you are doing exactly what you need to achieve your goals. Let’s break it down.

Performance

Performance is distinguished by being focused on improvement. The inherent necessity is the desire to improve your body, your physical abilities, to surpass your limits, etc. At it’s core, CrossFit is a performance program. It is designed to get you out of your comfort zone and to improve a variety of physical attributes. While it is possible to achieve longevity or to achieve weight loss in a standard CrossFit program, a lot of people don’t have the innate desire to improve, making CrossFit a less-than-perfect fit for them.

Longevity

Longevity is distinguished with the focus on being as healthy as possible, and optimizing health for the long term. This means less risky exercise – pain is the enemy here – and it doesn’t require the need for constant pursuit of better. Longevity does require a willingness to work hard, but it doesn’t require quite as much of a need to get out of your comfort zone.

Weight Loss

If the ultimate goal is weight loss, then we actually don’t need to exercise as all. As a matter of fact, a lot of people are at such a bad place with their nutrition that exercise might not be good at all. Our Weight Loss programs are for those people specifically – who need help with their weight, but aren’t sure how to accomplish that without working out. But when it comes down to managing weight, it’s all about what you eat. Our Weight Loss programs focus on teaching our clients how to be healthy, and how to properly fuel their body to promote lean tissue and to burn off the excess body fat.

So, long story short – Performance VS Longevity VS Weight Loss ultimately comes down to the client’s preference – are you the kind of person who needs to get pushed out of your comfort zone? Or do you prefer to stay where you know you’re safe? Is your goal to optimize your body’s ability to function, or just focus on weight loss? The best program for you is the program that aligns best with your goals and your preferences.
